Evan was introduced to the professional world of being an artist at the ripe age of 15 when he was hired to illustrate a book for zero dollars and "plenty of exposure". As the exposure was not as plentiful as promised, Evan considered his future carefully and attended the Art Institute of Philadelphia in hopes to plus his skills. Through AIPH Evan scored an internship with MTV Animation. This internship lead to his first "real world" job. Once he graduated with a 4.0, Evan started his career with MTV Animation on Daria and worked on several shows as he explored which part of animation was to be his focus. He loved it all, but design was what caught his interest. Within design, character design was what became Evan's focus.
Since then Evan has done work for such companies as Lego, Disney, Hasbro, WB, and VH1 just to name a few. He presently has the honor of playing with the beloved iconic characters of Sesame Workshop. Along with keeping the characters on model through traditional and digital applications, Evan also has had the great privilege of redesigning the iconic characters into many different styles in order to keep them relevant.
Evan presently creates out of New York City. He can be reached at evan@evancheng.com.
